PDK Chapter Charter for the Philippines from 1990. South China Sea PDK Chapter Charter signed by educators working at DoD Schools, Note: Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) International is a nonprofit organization that supports teachers and school leaders by strengthening their interest in the profession throughout their career. There are many PDK Chapters in the DoD Education Activity around the world. On March 3, 1990, the educators and school leaders in the Republic of the Philippines became the South China Sea Chapter. Sue Gurley (1988-2012) was the Chapter president. Enclosed is the original Chapter Charter signed by the educators and school leaders who were teaching at the DoD schools in the Philippines. It is a very distinguished list of educators and school leaders. Unfortunately, the Chapter was dissolved when the schools were closed in 1992 by the eruption of Mt Pinatubo. Additionally, the bases were returned to the government of the Philippines. Please accept these memorabilia into the AOSHS collection as a proud reminder of the work done by educators on behalf of the DoD Brats stationed overseas in the Philippines at Clark Air Force Base, Subic Naval Station, Cubi Point Naval Air Station and San Miguel Naval Station.
